Who can enter
High School Girls State
All HS Girls in grades 9-12 during the 2020-2021 high school season who did not qualify for the varsity tournament and do not want to wrestle in the Fresh/Soph state tournament.
This is an open individual tournament with no qualifier. The high school designation is used to define a group and does not indicate school representation. Girls must be 19 years old or younger on the first day of competition, June 21, 2021. Girls that qualify and plan to compete in the high school state are not eligible. Girls may wrestle in the Girls State or the Freshman-Sophomore State, but not both. Girls may not wrestle in multiple division. Coaches are not required.
Boys Freshman Sophomore State
Freshman and Sophomore wrestlers who did not qualify for the 2021 IWCOA Individual state tournament.
The Freshman-Sophomore State Tournament is an open event for individual wrestlers. The freshman and sophomore designation is used to define a group of wrestlers and does not indicate that a wrestler is representing his or her school. Participants must be 16 years old or younger on the first day of competition, June 22, 2021 and must be within the first two years of high school. Eighth graders are not eligible.
Wresters from Class 1A, 2A, and 3A schools.
The High School State is an event for individual wrestlers. Wrestlers must advance from qualifying tournaments with one wrestler per weight class per school participating. Generally speaking, the high school coach will determine the registrant. Residents of states outside Illinois are eligible to participate provided they attend a high school in Illinois and they did not participate in wrestling in high school competition in a different state this season. There will be a special entry for wrestlers representing Team Illinois in the Cadet and Junior Duals. See rules for details.
