Kewanee edges Morrison to win own Invitational title

There was quite the battle for the team championship at the Kewanee Invitational between the host Boilermakers and Morrison and although the latter owned advantages in champions (4-3), top-six finishers (11-10) and individuals in the top-10 in team points (3-2), Kewanee prevailed in the category that counts the most, team scores, as it got past Morrison 237.5-231 to claim top honors in the 18-team competition while Sherrard claimed third place with 161 points.

Rounding out the rest of the top-half of the field were Fulton (129.5), St. Bede Academy (120), Farmington/Cuba (116), Monmouth-Roseville (110), Eureka (96) and Rockford Auburn (83.5).

This was the second invite title for Kewanee, which also claimed first place at Seneca and second place at PORTA while Morrison surpassed its best previous tournament finish, which was fourth place at Erie/Prophetstown. The Boilermakers hope to turn in another strong tournament showing when they compete this weekend at Orion’s Bob Mitton Invitational.
