DEKALB REGIONAL 

No. 19 Hononegah, last year’s 3A state runner-up, kept its closest rivals at bay all throughout the day to win the DeKalb regional team title with 223.0 overall points.

Huntley was next with 184.0 points, followed by Hampshire at 173.0.

Hononegah will face Grant this Thursday in a dual-team sectional semifinal.

Host DeKalb (140.5) was fourth, with Harlem (71.0), Guilford (40.0), Jefferson (16.0) and Auburn (11.0) rounding out the rest of the field.

The NIC-10 champs earned five individual titles: Jackson Olson (126), Evan Musil (144), Rocco Cassioppi (150), Bruno Cassioppi (165), and Brody Sendele at 175.

The Indians also received second place medals from: Logan Harris (113), Kristian DeClercq (120), Isaiah Martinez (132), in addition to third place medals by: Quinton Martinez (157), Alex Martin Pecino (190), and Harrison Kinney (215).

GRANT REGIONAL 

No. 5 Grant crushed its competition on Saturday in Fox Lake inside Benedetti Field House – using eight individual champions, and a total of 11 sectional qualifiers to overwhelm the 8-team field on its home mats.

The Bulldogs would erase a heart-breaking loss a week ago to Stevenson in the Lake County Invite with its tourney-high 246.5 overall points, while Libertyville and Warren finished far off the pace with 163.0, and 131.5 points.

The Bulldogs’ second consecutive regional crown means it will now host Hononegah this Thursday in a dual-team sectional semifinal.

The eight individual champions for the home side were: Brady Myatt (106), Jayce Glauser (120), Breiydyn Hoffman (126), Erik Rodriguez (138), Vince Jasinski (144), John Von Hoene (150), Matthew Longabaugh (215) and Ajani Williams (285).

Larry Quirk (113), and Xavier Arroyo (190) were second, while senior, and 2025 state qualifier, Casey Gipson earned a third place medal at 190.

Mundelein (124.5) Zion-Benton (74.0), Round Lake (61.5), McHenry (52.5) and Waukegan (32.0) would follow the top three.

ROLLING MEADOWS REGIONAL

On the strength of its brilliant top rated duo of Niko Odiotti (106) and Kai Calcutt (215), Loyola Academy would lift its first regional team championship trophy in program history on Saturday in Arlington Heights at the Rolling Meadows regional.

Odiotti and Calcutt would lead a Ramblers club that broke free of runner-up Hersey around the noon hour (141.5-133.0) before outscoring the Huskies 

72.5-54.0 the rest of the way en route to collecting 213.0 overall points.

Hersey would finish with 187.0 points, Prospect 139.0, and Glenbrook South with 128.5 to round out the top four.

Niles North 101.5 Evanston 81.5, Glenbrook North 79.0, Rolling Meadows 56.0, and New Trier 49.5 would all follow.

The Ramblers will meet Barrington on Thursday in a dual-team sectional semifinal at Grant Community High School, and send eight into the Barrington individual sectional, beginning with its six champions:

Niki Odiotti, Quentin Williams (113), Mateo Hatzopoulos (138), James Hemmila (150), Danny Malan (157) and Kai Calcutt, who is now a three-time regional champion.

Sophomore Daniel Myint (120) and senior Gavin Padilla (126) were both second overall.

Prospect senior James Brouilette would surprise No. 10 Jeremy Marshall (Evanston) in the 285-pound final with a hard fought 1-0 victory, dashing the hopes of Marshall, a 2025 state qualifier, of earning his sixth major title of the season.
