Class of 2023
Harrisburg Coach
Greg Langley was a star athlete at Eldorado high school, winning honors in both football and track. Since the Eagles did not offer wrestling, Greg came to our sport later in life.
After playing football at SIU-Carbondale, Greg became the head coach of Harrisburg High School and he has never left. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs have over 470 dual meet victories, with 23 state qualifiers and two state place winners.
Greg has been the Southern Illinois Coaches Association Coach of the Year 4 times (’91, ’92, ’96 & ’06). Greg again showed his leadership as the Eagles went a 13-3 during the difficult COVID campaign.
Two of his Regional winning teams went to the Elite Eight of state competition.
Greg’s expertise is not limited to the mats. He is the Athletic Director for the Purple and White and is an IHSA Official Representative. He was a vital member of the 2000 football coaching staff that lead Harrisburg to a state championship and has coached 2 Track and Field Champions (1999 & 2001)
In honor of his distinguished career and commitment to the youth of Harrisburg and surrounding areas; The IWCOA welcomes Mr. Greg Langley to the 2023 HOF class
