T.J. Williams
Chicago (Mt. Carmel)/University of Iowa
A member of one of the most famous wrestling families in Illinois, T.J. Williams progressed through the Harvey Twisters on to Chicago's Mt. Carmel High School. While with the Twisters, T.J. wrestled for Hall of Fame Coach Quintroy Harrell. Moving on to Mt. Carmel, his coach was another Hall of Famer, Bill Weick.
While wrestling for the Caravan, T.J. won four state championships. He had a career record of 156-3. He competed on two state championship teams at Mt. Carmel, 1993 and 1994. In 1996, the I.W.C.O.A. selected T.J. as the Class AA Wrestler of the Year.
After high school, T.J. attended Lassen College and then the University of Iowa. As a Hawkeye, he won two NCAA
Division I National championships and place third once. He was named Iowa University's Most Valuable Wrestler in 1999. His 98- 1 career college record ranks him on top of the best career winning percentage in Iowa history. 2006 I.W.C.O.A. Hall of Fame Inductees
