Mark Hahn

Glenbard North High School

Mark Hahn is a lifetime resident of Carol Stream and the Glenbard North community. Mark began wrestling in the fourth grade when the Carol Stream Park District began a youth wrestling program initiated and run by his future coach and 1985 IWCOA Hall of Fame Inductee, Bob Fulk. After going through the village's park district program, Mark attended Glenbard North High School, where he earned varsity letters in football, track and field, and wrestling.

Upon graduation in 1977, he attended the College of DuPage and played football under Coaches Bob McDougal and

Joe Roman. During his sophomore season, Mark was named co-captain before transferring to Illinois Benedictine College (now Benedictine University) in Lisle, where he played for Coach Ralph Young. Under Young, he competed for two years, being named both team captain and most valuable player for his senior season.

Mark graduated with a B.A. in Education. Coming back to Glenbard North, Mark started his coaching career where his competition skills began, with Coach Fulk. Becoming Fulk's assistant for five seasons, he credits Fulk with much of his coaching philosophy. When Bob Fulk retired from wrestling at Glenbard North in 1987, Mark took over as only the second Head Coach in the school's history. Currently, Mark maintains his position as Glenbard North's Head Wrestling Coach.

He also coaches freshman football and teaches Physical Education.  Throughout his nineteen season, Mark was amassed a career record of 402-75-2 in dual meet competition.  His teams, have won twelve DuPage Valley Conference Championships, including a record eight straight.  Mark's teams have also won thirteen regional championships and qualified for the Dual Team State Championships eight times. Glenbard North has placed 4th, 3rd three times and have been Runner-up twice. He has also coached seventy-four individual state qualifiers, thirty-three All-Staters and seven State Champions.

In 2001 Mark was selected by the I.W.C.O.A. as Class AA Coach of the Year.
