Bill Scully began his wrestling career at Brother Rice High School from 1975-1979. However, his mark in wrestling came from coaching others to be great.
Scully honed his coaching skills first as an assistant coach at Providence Catholic (1985-88), then as assistant coach at Conant (1988-91), before becoming Head Coach at Hoffman Estates from 1991-2009.
During a twenty-eight year coaching career Scully’s teams produced 9 conference championships, 9 regional championships, 2 sectional championships and a third place finish at the IHSA Dual Team tournament. In addition, as a head coach Scully coached 2 IHSA wrestling officials, 2 varsity head coaches, 8 varsity assistants and mentored 3 varsity head coaches.
Scully was instrumental in creating and implementing today’s popular Illinois Frosh/Soph State Tournament.
