Alli Ragan St. John, Carbondale

A graduate of Carbondale High School, Alli Ragan was coached by her father, Hall of Fame coach Dennis Ragan. She becomes the second father-daughter combination to be inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame. A four-year wrestler for the Terriers, she compiled a 130-29 record and qualified for the IHSA Boys Individual State Tournament. She also competed and lettered in soccer and volleyball while at Carbondale. Alli went on to King University in Bristol, Tennessee and earned an Education degree with a Business minor. Her college coach was Jason Moorman. She won two Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships and was twice runner-up to make her the school's first four-time All-American. In her senior season of 2013-2014, she won the championship at 136 and her team also captured the national championship. In 2012-13, she won the national championship at 136 and her team finished in third place. In 2011-12, she took second place at 143 and her team also finished second. And in 2010-11, she lost the championship match at 138. A seven-time U.S. Senior World Team Member, she won two world medals. She won a silver medal in the U23 World Championships and earned two bronze medals in the Junior World Championships. She was a three-time US Open Champion and three-time Final X Champion. Alli was a bronze medalist at the Junior World Championships in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, she represented the United States at the Summer Universiade and won the silver medal in the women's 59 kg event. Alli competed for the U.S. in the World Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She won the silver medal in the Women's Freestyle 60 kg event at the 2016 World Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary and in that same event at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships held in Paris, France. In 2020 Alli was ranked as high as number one at 59 kg. In 2020, she was the first female wrestler to be inducted into the Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame. In 2021, she joined the women's wrestling coaching staff at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. She'll be a graduate assistant, joining head coach Angelo Crinzi and assistant coach Arelys Valles.
