Jack Griffin
Stagg
Jack Griffin's wrestling career began at Stagg High School where a 3 time State Qualifier and a 2 time State Champion was. He also placed 2nd in the Junior Nationals in Free Style as a senior at Stagg.
His collegiate wrestling was at Northwestern University where he was 2nd, 2nd and twice Champion in the Big 10. In the NCAA’s Division I he placed 5th and was National Champion. In 1987 he was named Frosh of the Year.
Jack also took 2nd, 5th, and 4th, 2nd and twice was Champion in the Midlands. He won the World Espoirs twice but did not place. He made the World Team. He placed 2nd in the USA Open Free Style, placed 5th and won the championship in the USA Open. He placed 3rd in the Grand Prix, 3rd in the World Cup in Russia, and 2nd in the 1992 Olympic Trials. He also wrestled in some international duals.
Jack has coached for 2 years as an Assistant at Iowa University, 1 year at the University of Illinois and 5 years at Northwestern University.
