Don Stuart attended Bremen High School where he was a three-sport athlete. He participated in football, wrestling, and track and field. Don was All-Conference in football and wrestling. He held the school record in the pole vault.

Don’s college career was at Elmhurst College where he placed four times in the CCIW Conference and was a national qualifier (NAIA) in 1971.

He began coaching wrestling at Bremen under Hall of Famer John D’Ambrosio. After a couple of years, Don moved to Oak Forest High School as the head coach. His teams have won over 250 dual meets, six regional championships, five conference titles and four team sectional appearances. He has had twenty-six state qualifiers, ten all-state wrestlers and one state champion.

Don has worked as an official in freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments for many years. The high point in his off-season was working the training camp for world and Olympic Games in 1996.

Don has coached football, track, baseball, and soccer.
