Greg Bradley attended Mt. Zion HS and wrestled for Coach Dick Linnenberger. He started wrestling as a sophomore at Mt. Zion High School, when the school first started an interscholastic wrestling program. While at Mt. Zion, Bradley earned nine varsity letters in baseball, football, track and wrestling.
Greg would go on to attend Western Illinois University (Macomb) earning a B.S. degree in Education and a Master’s degree from Eastern Illinois (Charleston).
Returning to his roots Bradley became the Head Wrestling coach at Mt. Zion in 1979 and for the next seven years compiling a sterling 103-46 dual meet record. In 1981, Bradley started Mt. Zion’s first IKWF wrestling program. In addition to coaching wrestling, Bradley was also the Mt. Zion Head softball coach and defensive coordinator of the Braves football team.
Becoming a registered IHSA official in 1986, Bradley officiated for over 13 years and has attended over 30 IHSA State Wrestling finals.
Bradley created his greatest mark as an administrator, first as principal at Bement High School in 1986 followed by a tenure at Illini Bluffs from 1988 and finally as principal at Mt. Zion from 1993 to 2012.
Greg became a strong advocate for wrestling with the IHSA Board of Directors serving on the Board for 17 years. While principal at Illini Bluffs, he hosted many IHSA regional and sectional tournaments. In 1996, the IWCOA named him the Class AA administrator of the year.
An avid softball player, Bradley is an ASA Men’s Major Fast pitch softball five-time All-State selection as well as a two-time Midwest Region selection and in 1988 he was an All-American.
Bradley is currently retired and enjoys golf, softball, and construction work.
