Jeff Bowers

A 1980 graduate of Bloomington High School, Jeff Bowers was a four year wrestler at BHS. He wrestled for his father, IWCOA Hall of Fame Member and National Hall of Fame and Museum-Illinois Chapter Lifetime Service Award Winner Jim Bowers. Jeff becomes the thirteenth IWCOA Hall of Fame inductee whose father is also a member of the IWCOA Hall of Fame. He was a sectional champion as a senior and placed sixth at the state meet at 167 lb. and finished with a 76-24 varsity career record. Jeff was named Chuck Murdoch Central Illinois Outstanding wrestler in 1980. He also played football and was named to the All Area Team in baseball.

Jeff went on to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, he played baseball while. Jeff was named to the All-Conference Team and he received his B.S degree in economics in 1985.

Upon his graduation, Jeff returned to Illinois and began serving wrestling as an official. He received his first IHSA regional tournament assignment 1991 and has worked in 20 regionals since that time. He has also worked 15 individual sectionals and 10 dual team sectionals. In 1999 he was appointed to officiate the IHSA Dual Team State Finals and in 2001 he was appointed his first IHSA Individual State Finals. He has worked 5 dual team and 8 individual state tournaments. In addition, Jeff has worked the IESA State Finals 9 times. In 2010 Jeff was appointed to officiate the U.S. vs. Illinois All Star Meet.

Jeff has served on the IHSA Official’s Advisory Committee from 2008-2010. In 2005 he was selected as IWCOA Official of the Year and in 2009 the National Federation of High Schools selected Jeff as Illinois Official of the Year.

Jeff currently serves as Corporate Accounts Manager for Reagent Chemical & Research.
