John Kading

A 1992 graduate of Glenbard South High School, John Kading won two IHSA State Championships. He was champion in 1991 at 152 lbs. and won again in 1992 at 160 lbs. He had a career high school record of 130-27. He was selected as U.S.A. Wrestling High School All-American and was Junior National Freestyle Champion at 191.5 lbs. in 1992.

John moved to compete at the collegiate level at the University of Oklahoma. In 1994 he earned All-American honors with a 5th place finish at the NCAA Tournament at Heavyweight. In 1995 he once again was an All-American with a 6th place finish at 190 lbs. He won the NCAA Championship at 190 lbs. in 1996. John capped off his senior season with his fourth straight All-American honor as he finished as Runner-up at 190 lbs. in 1997.

In 1998, John won the U.S. University Freestyle Championship. He placed 5th in the 1999 U.S.A. Wrestling Senior National Freestyle Championships.

John is currently the assistant wrestling coach at Northwestern University and is training for the 2000 Olympics.
