Oak Lawn

Ron has served in every capacity in the field of Wrestling. He began his career at Oak Lawn High School, where he was a two-time State Place winner for Hall of Famer James Craig. He then entered Joliet Junior College where he was a two-time All-American for Hall of Famer Henry Pillard and then to Winona State where he placed 2nd in the NAIA.

Post college found him wrestling for Mayor Daley Youth Foundation where he was a place winner several times in the AAU Nationals in both Greco Roman and Free Style. He was a National Free Style Federation Champion in 1970 and was invitied to the World Cup.

His coaching career has spanned many levels and years. He started as an assistant at Winona State, moving home to Illinois at Longfellow Junior High School, assistant to Ed Begoshian at Thornton Harvey, assistant to Tom Heniff, Hall of Famer, at Oak Lawn Richards. Here he was named Assistant Coach of the Year in the SICA Conference. He then took the head job at Shepard High School. From Shepard the went to Reavis as an assistant to George Ihnat and in 1985 he moved to Mr. Carmel as an assistant to Hall of Famer Bill Weick. During this time he was nominated as an Assistant Coach of the Year in the IWCOA a number of times and was awarded this Award in 1993.

For many years Ron was active in the IWF Summer Wrestling Programs and was an assistant coach at the Junior National Several times.

He has been involved with helping coach 67 State Qualifiers; many place winners and 13 Champions.

He has been an official for IWF and FILA Official for USA Wrestling. He has officiated at the Olympic trials, the Junior World Trails, the World Open Trials, and the Canadian Cup in Toronto, 7 Senior Open National Tournaments, Several Junior National Tournaments and several IKWF State Tournaments.
