Ron Paar

Crystal Lake (University of Wisconsin)

A 1960 graduate of Crystal Lake Community High School, Ron Paar was a two-time state place winner. He placed 3rd as a junior and was runner-up as a senior and had only 3 losses during his junior and senior year. He also played football and ran track. He was selected as the football team’s Most Valuable Defensive Player and was named Athlete of the Year his senior year.

Ron attended the University Wisconsin on a wrestling scholarship and was one of only seven three-time All-Americans in Wisconsin wrestling history. He also applied his trade on the football field as an offensive lineman for the Badgers from 1961-1964. He played in the Rose Bowl in January of 1963.

Ron placed 4th in the Western Conference in 1962 and was a three-time NCAA All American, placed third at 177 pounds in 1962 before moving up to 191 pounds, finishing third in 1963 and fifth in 1964.

Ron returned to school in 1967 to complete the degree requirements and received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an independent contractor and consultant.
