Ryan Ferguson was a two-time All-State wrestler for Coach Jerry Ancona at Lake Park High School 1990 to 1992. Ferguson compiled a career 156-15 record for the Lancers with 11 of those loses coming during his freshman season. He was the Lake Park Athlete of the year 1992 and in his career, a three time IHSA State Qualifier.
Ferguson began wrestling in the second grade in the IKWF. He compiled a stellar career becoming a 5-time place winner, a 4-time finalist and a three time IKWF State Champion.
Wrestling for Westmar University in LeMars, Iowa and Hall of Fame Coach Milt Martin, Ferguson recorded 146 wins to become the All Time Career leader for the Eagles. A year team captain, Ferguson who was a three time Most Valuable Wrestler as well became a two time NAIA National Finalist and a four time all American from 1992 to 1996.
In 1995 Ferguson competed and trained in Russia and Germany and a member of the USA Collegiate National Team.
With a Physical Education degree in hand began a coaching career, first as a Graduation Assistant at Westmar in 1997 before becoming the Head Wrestling coach at Holy Cross High School in 1998. In 2000 Ferguson became the Head Coach at Wheaton Warrenville South and through 2011 coached 19 IHSA State Qualifiers, 9 All State wrestlers and a State Champion.
In 2012 Ferguson moved to Wheaton North High School where he is currently the Dean of Students as well as the freshman wrestling coach. In addition he is the Head Coach of the IKWF’s Yorkville Wrestling Club.
Ferguson has a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Chicago State University as well as an Administrative Certificate.
