Wilbur Borrero

Wilbur Borrero wrestled all four years at Waukegan Township High School. He also participated in Cross Country. Wilbur went on to the College of Lake County. He finished 5th in the Junior College National Tournament. While finishing his education at the University of Minnesota Morris, Wilbur would earn All-American status finishing 4th at the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Wilbur coached at Waukegan West from 1984-1990. He then moved on to coach at his alma mater, Waukegan HS from 1990-1994, compiling a record of 75-19. His record was 23-4 while coaching at Evanston Township HS from 2000-2003. He has been the Head coach at Antioch Community HS for the past thirteen years. Wilbur has amassed 287 Career dual meet victories. His teams have won 5 IHSA Dual Team State Trophies including a runner-up finish in 1991 with his Waukegan team. Nineteen of Wilbur’s wrestlers have placed in the IHSA Individual State Tournament.
Wilbur Borrero has been inducted into both the College of Lake County and the Lake County Hall of Fame. Wilbur has also been nominated as the IWCOA Coach of the Year in 1991, 1992, and 1994.
Wilbur Borrero is currently a Dean of Students at Antioch Community High School.
