Brett Camden

Brett Camden was a product of the tradition rich Mahomet-Seymour wrestling program. Coached by Hall of Fame Coach
Marty Williams, Brett was a four-time state place winner. As a freshman, he won the regional and placed 4th in state with a 39-5 record. He went on to win three more regional championships, three sectional titles, and won the I.H.S.A. State Championship the next three years. He had a career record of 175-8-1, with seventy-nine falls, and 351 career takedowns. During his junior and senior year, he had an 89 match winning streak.
In 1987, Brett won the Northern Plains Freestyle Championship. He was a three time state Freestyle champion, and
two time Great Lakes Greco-Roman champion. Twice, he was selected as the captain of the Illinois Freestyle team. In 1989, the Prairie State Games Blue Gray regional named him all sport most valuable male athlete. The I.W.C.O.A. selected him as Class A Wrestler of the Year in 1989 and he also received the Doc Grogg Award for excellence in athletics and academics. The Amateur Wrestling News selected Brett as an All-American in 1989 and he was named as an Academic All-American that same year by Wrestling USA. In addition, Brett was the team leader of three teams that won three Class A Dual Team Championships.
Brett is now Vice-President and branch manager for S.A.F.E., Inc. in Houston, Texas. He and his wife, Heather, are living in Houston and have a son, Corey, eight months old. 2006 I.W.C.O.A. Hall of Fame Inductees
