Mike Bay
Waukegan
Born in Danville, IL, Mike Bay graduated from Waukegan High School in 1966. He was coached by his father, Hall of Fame member Ott Bay. Mike's three year varsity record was 82-7-1. He 2006 I.W.C.O.A. Hall of Fame Inductees was a state qualifier as a sophomore and placed third in state as a junior. He was a State Champion his senior year with a 28-0 record. Mike was captain of the team as Waukegan set the record (since been broken) for the most points at the State Tournament and crowned four individual State Champions. That year he was also named High School All-American by Amateur Wrestling News and was featured by Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd." Mike was also the quarterback on the football team and played baseball. After graduation, Mike went on to wrestle for another I.W.C.O.A. Hall of Fame member, Henry Pillard, at Joliet Junior College. He wrestled for one season and compiled a 20-1 record en route to an NCAA Junior College National Championship. He was captain of the squad as Joliet placed second in the national tournament. He also placed third in the Midlands that season. Mike was named as 1st Team Junior College All-American. Mike has been active as sales manager of several car dealerships and has been involved in property investments in San Diego for the past thirty years. Mike will be inducted with his brother, Steve, and joins his father, and brother, Rick, in the I.W.C.O.A. Hall of Fame.
