Mike Rolak,

Chicago(Tilden)/Indiana University

A graduate of Tilden Tech in Chicago, Mike Rolak won the City of Chicago title, was a third place finisher in the 1940 State Tournament at 115 lbs. He went on to Indiana University where was a three time All-Big 10 and was a Champion. He placed third in the NCAA. Mike's wrestling career was interrupted during World War II and there was no
NCAA Tournament from 1943-1945.

Prior to the 1948 Olympics he placed 2nd in the National AAU Tournament. Family conflicts, however, prevented him from pursuing his Olympic bid.  Mike worked with various clubs in the city and later was an assistant at Evanston High School. His son, Fred, was a State Champion for Niles North. A businessman in Skokie for over 20 years, Mike operated a corporate supply company. After his retirement, he became active in the senior Olympics.

Mr. Rolak is deceased.
