Rob Sherrill

Rob Sherrill graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in 1971. He went on to Penn State University, and earned his Bachelor's degree in 1975 and earned his Masters in 1978. Rob served as a wrestling beat writer for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1984 through 1995. During that time, he also provided the broadcast for the I.H.S.A. State Finals. He currently is the publisher of the Illinois Best Weekly, a publication that provides state wrestling rankings. In addition, he is the National
High School Editor for W.I.N. Magazine and the Director of Communications and Field Representative for the National High School Coaches Association. In 1996, Rob published "Mat Madness". This publication chronicled 60 glorious years of Illinois high school wrestling including rules time lines, listing of champions, career and single season records, and a breakdown of major events of each decade.
Rob was selected as Newsman of the Year by the I.W.C.O.A. in 1985 and then again in 1990. He was also named Journalist of the Year by the National Wrestling Media Association, W.I.N. Magazine, and Amateur Wrestling News. Rob was also a member of the I.W.C.O.A. Hall of Fame Selection Committee for many years.
