Geno Savegnago began his wrestling career at Glenbard North High School for Hall of Famer

Bob Fulk. He placed 3rd and 1st in the DuPage Valley Conference, was a State Qualifier and also a State Champion in 1977. He was voted the most outstanding wrestler by the IWCOA in 1977.

His collegiate wrestling career was at Eastern Illinois University where he became a 7 time All American; placed 3rd, 2nd and Champion in Division 2. He placed 4 times in Division I: 8th, 5th, 3rd and 6th. He owns the most wins for Eastern Illinois with 130.

In 1996 Geno was elected to the Eastern Illinois University Hall of Fame.
