Salvatore “Sammy” Fiorella

Born in Chicago, Sammy Fiorella attended St. Bede the Venerable grade school and St. Laurence High School. He was a 1971 graduate of St. Laurence. He competed at a time when members of the Catholic League were not members of the IHSA and did not participate in the state series. He was a two-time Catholic League champion. He was scholar athlete award winner and was selected to St. Laurence Athletic Hall of Fame.
Sammy went on to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a two time NAIA All-American and was 1975 NAIA National Champion at 118 pounds. He had a career record of 101-6 and was selected to the Loras College Hall of Fame. Sammy graduated from Loras in 1975 Magna Cum Laude with a degree in accounting. He earned his MBA in Finance from DePaul University in 1986.
Upon college graduation, Sammy came back to St. Bede and began the wrestling program. He also served as an IHSA wrestling official.
Sammy’s work career began with Peoples Gas with various positions including manager, plant accounting and auditing. He currently works for SFIO Consulting, providing a wide array of regulatory consulting services to utility clients, including Ameren, Aqua Illinois, AT&T, ComEd, CleaResult, Peoples Gas, among others. He has served on State Regulatory Affairs for 16 years that was responsible for managing relations with Illinois Commerce Commission and was also responsible for the management of various cases, providing expert testimony and compliance with various rules and requirements of the ICC.
Sammy has served on the board of directors Mulliganers, Smith Senior Living and the St. Laurence Alumni Board.
Married to Noreen for 18 years, Sammy has four children and six grandchildren.
