Chris Casey started wrestling in the 7th grade at the Hickory Hills Park District with Coach Bob Zaccone. He continued his wrestling career at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills with Coach Dave Anderson, where he won 2 district (regional) tournaments and 1 sectional tournament and capped off his senior year by taking 6th place in the Illinois State wrestling tournament with a record of 31 wins against just 6 loses.
Chris was a late bloomer and did his best wrestling during his collegiate years at Augustana College (Rock Island, IL). from 1980 thru 1984. Casey was an NCAA Division III National Champion in 1983 (158lbs.) and 1984 (167lbs.). He finished his career with a 153-24-1 record, which at the time was the schools, all-time career win leader in Augustana College history.
Chris also won 4 CCIW (College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) wrestling titles. At the NCAA Division III national tournament his team placed fifth in 1982, fifth in 1983 and sixth in 1984. During his college career he won the Wartburg College tournament once and the Olivet College tournament 3 times, the Cornell College tournament 3 times, the All-Lutheran tournament at Luther College 3 times and the Wheaton College tournament 3 times.
Chris was inducted into the NCAA National Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1991. In addition he was inducted into the Augustana College’s Hall of Fame in 2004 and recently inducted into the School District 230 “Hall of fame” in 2013.
Chris briefly worked as an assistant wrestling coach at Augustana College in 1985 and 1986 then pursued a sales management career in the insurance industry in the Chicago land area. He became involved with the professional organization of the General Agents and Managers Association. Chris was an active member, soon moving up to treasurer, then Vice-President and ultimately became President of the Association. At the same time Chris helped coach wrestling at his high school alma mater, AA Stagg High School with Hall of Fame Coach Dave Anderson.
Following his insurance career Chris became involved in the transportation industry in 2000 and started a Logistics company, Spartacus Logistics which he currently owns and operates out of Tinley Park IL.
Chris currently lives in Tinley Park, IL and is married to Catherine Casey for the past 23 years. He has three beautiful daughters, Samantha Casey 19 years old and attends North Central College in Naperville IL, Abby Casey 15 years old and attends Lincoln Way North High School in Frankfort IL and his youngest daughter Grace Casey 14 years old and attends Summit Hill Junior High in Frankfort IL.
