Don Stevens

Class of 2015

Orland Park (Sandburg), SIU – Edwardsville

This 1979 graduate of Orland Park (Sandburg) High School, Don Stevens was a three time state qualifier. He wrestled for IWCOA Hall of Fame Coach Don Schultz and place 4th as a sophomore. He was compile a win streak his junior and senior year of 64-0 on the way to win 2 IHSA State Championships. His record for high school was 112-10.

He went on to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where he wrestled for another IWCOA Hall of Fame Coach, Larry Kristoff.

Don was a three time NCAA Division II All-American and was a two-time NCAA Division II National champion in 1983 and 1984. He placed seventh at the 1983 NCAA Division I Championships and eighth at the 1984 NCAA Division I Championships. Stevens recorded a 101-25-2 record as a Cougar and was a key member of the 1984 NCAA Division II National Championship team.

He has been inducted into the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Hall of Fame.
