Reggie Wilson attended Bloom Trail High School and was a member of their 1982 Class AA State Championship Team. Reggie placed second in the state as a senior with a record of 36-2. He was also a state qualifier as a sophomore and junior and he finished with a three-year record of 97-20.
Reggie went on to Triton Junior College where he wrestled for IWCOA Hall of Fame Coach Art Kraft. Reggie became a two-time National Junior College Champion. He holds the Triton school record for career victories with his perfect 85-0 record. Reggie led Triton to, back to back, National Junior College Championships. He became the first wrestler to win the Ernest B. Gould Outstanding Wrestler Award twice. This is the award given to the Outstanding Wrestler of the National Junior College Championships Tournament.
Reggie was runner up in the Big 8 Championships and he earned NCAA All-American honors at Oklahoma State in 1986 when he placed sixth for the Cowboys. Reggie finished his college career at Chicago State where he would again finish sixth at the NCAA Division I National Tournament earning a second All-American honor. He was the 177 lb. runner-up in the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in 1986 for Chicago State.
Reggie passed away in 2014.
