Bryon Hasty, a 1975 graduate of Eureka High School, was a four year wrestler, coached by IWCOA Hall of Famer Mike Manahan (1 year) and Ed Steinbeck (3 Years). He was the “ILLIO” Conference Champion twice, with a 40-29 record. He also played football all four years and as a running back was selected first team all-conference. A three-sport athlete Hasty also played three years of baseball.

Hasty began officiating wrestling in 1977. He has had to decline four IHSA State Tournament series, two of which were state finals due to overseas military assignments. During this timeframe, he stayed current with his officiating license and worked wrestling meets, during the season, when he could.

During his 36 years, he has worked 18 regionals, 14 sectionals, and received his first dual team state finals in 2001 and first individual state finals in 2003. Hasty has officiated four dual team and individual state tournaments in his officiating career.

Hasty currently is a Senior Master Sergeant, assigned to the182d Airlift Wing, Illinois Air National Guard, Peoria, IL as the Aircraft Maintenance Fabrication Element Supervisor. He joined the military in 1990 and been deployed to several locations overseas including Germany, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Oman, and UAE (United Arab Emirates).

Hasty has received several military awards; Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding unit with Valor Device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal.

In addition Hasty is very active with the VFW Post 2078, East Peoria, IL and is the Jr. Vice Commander.

His hobbies are spending time with family, camping, archery, and hunting. Hasty lives in East Peoria with his wife Karen, daughter Cheyanne, and step-daughter Katelyn.
