Dennis Hastert

Yorkville High School

Mr. Hastert had his beginning at Oswego High School and Later Wheaton College. After graduation Denny moved to Yorkville where he has been the Varsity wrestling coach for the past 15 years.

During his coaching career at Yorkville, he has won over 225 dual meets; a number of tournaments and numerous conference championships, district and sectionals. His teams have been in the top 3 places in the State, 5 times in the 6 years of Class A. His team won the Class A championship in 1976, were 2nd in 1974, 1977 and 1978 and 3rd in 1979.

Individually his wrestlers have placed 28 times at the State Championship level of which 7 were Class A Champions and 1 was a Class AA champion.

Denny has been very active in the IWCOA since he has been coaching, Serving as the President in 1973 and in 1974. He has also been involved in other committees of the IWCOA and of course has been the Editor and Copywriter of the Word, which has been our official newspaper for the past 7 years.

Mr. Hastert was named Coach of the Year in 1976 by the IWCOA. Denny was also President of the National Wrestling Conference in 1976.

Denny has been active in various IWF functions and in his spare time has arranged to be involved in the football program.
