Nate Patrick was a prep standout, wrestling at Naperville North High School for IWCOA Hall of Fame Coach Tom Arlis. Nate was also a varsity starter on the soccer team.
As a wrestler, Nate would qualify for the IHSA Sectional and State Tournaments 4 times. He was All-Conference 4 times and he was a 3-time captain of the North Huskies. Nate won 132 career matches, placing 4th in the state as a junior and he was the 1996 IHSA State Champion at 171 pounds. He was an Espoir National Greco-Roman All-American and he would later earn All-American honors at the University Nationals.
Nate would continue his education at the University of Illinois earning a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and graduating in 2001. While at the U of I, Nate would be coached by IWCOA Hall of Famers, Mark Johnson, Jim Heffernan and Steve Marianetti. He would qualify for the NCAA DI Championships in 1999, 2000 and again in 2001. He was a team captain in 2001 and a Big Ten Conference Champion. Nate was the George Huff Scholar Athlete Award winner and he appeared on the Dean's list from 1999 thru 2001.
Nate was a Specialist in the US Army and a platoon leader. He has also spent time coaching at the University of Illinois, Iowa State University, Northern Illinois University, Champaign Central High School and at Neuqua Valley High School. Nate resides in Gilberts, IL and he enjoys time at home with his wife and 1 year old daughter.
